Sylvester spied a little mouse,
Sneaking around the quiet house.
Suddenly as cats often do
Snarled and then through the air he flew
Shaking mouse was trapped by the tail
Spiked by the big cat’s sharpened nail
Speaking in a frightened whisper
Squeaking, crying, in a dither.
Speak up, you shivering little pest
Stop sniveling, just give it a rest
Shh, Let me lift you to my ear
So your mutterings I can hear
Sylvester raised him by the tail
Speak up now or you never will
Suddenly in the path of death
Shaking mouse took a big deep breath
Stirring up all his inner strength
Stretching out to his full length
Screeching out from deep within his soul
Sylvester dropped him with a howl!
Scurrying away the prey did run
Speeding away fast as a train
Safely free, in his hole he sat
Smiling at the smug, silly cat.
